This website is the story of my night jod. I persue a passion for astronomy. |
Adam Block - Caelum Observatory
Caelum Observatory now stands for the name of Adam Block's business and includes activities that are separate from his current (new) job at the Mount Lemmon Sky Center (near Tucson, Arizona). His overall mission in all his endeavors is to promote pub |

Astro Imaging
Since early 2009 I've been taking astronomical images using an Imaging Source webcam and a standard camera lens using a small telescope (ETX 105) or a small solar telescope (PST). Objects imaged include the Sun, the Moon, the planets (Jupiter and Saturn) and various star fields. An example image is shown below while more can be seen via the Astro Imaging part of the website. |
Michael Deegan
Welcome to Mikes astroimaging. Home to the fruits of my labour in the addictive hobby of astroimaging. My name is Mike Deegan and I have always had a casual interest in astronomy, casual until I bought a cheap 3.5 " reflector from the supermarket. At that time I just looked at the Moon ,planets and pointed it at the sky in general, But what I saw through that cheap scope,Craters on the moon and the rings of saturn, gave me the thirst for more. So I decided to buy a Skywatcher 130M (4.5") reflector with a powered R.A equatorial mount and had a great time looking at the moon and planets. Then I had the idea of putting my point and shoot digital camera up to the eyepiece and taking a shot of the moon. From there it has been a slow but steady progression from webcam imaging (Toucam pro 2), a webcam based SAC8-2, bigger scope(Skywatcher 10" reflector) and to where I am now imaging with a Starlight express HX916 CCD. I Hope you enjoy the images on this site half as much as I have enjoyed taking them. Mike. |

Over the past decade amateur astronomy has gained access to the Universe to an extend that had traditionally been reserved to professional astronomers. Affordable high quality telescopes, CCD cameras and various other tools allow amateurs to obtain breath-taking views of our solar system, stars and nebulae within our galaxy and beyond. This site provides a glimpse of our solar system and other solar worlds as seen by an amateur astronomer from London, United Kingdom.
Solar Worlds (the website) was launched in March 2005. |

Paul and Liz Downing
Paul and Liz (the Earthlings) are astronomers and astro-photographers, with a selection of telescopes, cameras and tracking devices which are used interchangeably to produce the images which you will see on this site. We live in England and have a pretty busy life. Liz is a practicing reflexologist - IIR, AoR, ART and a qualified Nutritional Therapist - dip. NT (CNNT). Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS), Chairman of the local Parish Council, sings in a choir and works full time. However, we try to spend as much time as we can under the clear skies of southern Spain where we have built an observatory. |

COCKFIELD OBSERVATORY
The English village of Cockfield, in Suffolk, is home to a numbered IAU facility (International Astronomical Union Observatory 480) operated by myself: the dedicated UK amateur astronomer and astronomy author Martin Mobberley.
I am a former BAA President and Goodacre medallist. In 1997 the IAU officially named asteroid 7239 as 'Mobberley' in recognition of my services to amateur astronomy. |
Gordon Rogers
Born a Virgo I am a pretty accurate and punctual person. That is the good side. The downside is that I love a laugh and a party and frequently go one step too far. Nine years ago I had the good fortune to marry the beautiful Margaret who has developed a fairly direct means of restraining me. Though she cannot stand the game of football, she has adopted the soccer card system. A yellow card slows me down now and a red card nearly always causes me to make a U-turn. The red card even worked in Stringfellows nightclub.
I have a knack of saying the wrong thing. To an American who lived in Wyoming, who was a fan of Inspector Morse and wanted to go to Oxford, I intimated that if he kept his eyes open there were sometimes cards on lampposts seeking extras for the programme and he might get lucky. Two days later I learned that he had been President of 20th Century Fox! At lifeboat drill on a ship to start conversation I mentioned that the equipment was not too flattering to the eye. Wrong move - the year before he had been on a ship which struck a reef in the Red Sea: they had to spend 24 hours on deck in fear of foundering. |

Aurora Sky Station
Inside the Aurora Sky Station, an aurora exhibition emphasizes observing and understanding the northern lights. The observations are made with the help of radio receivers and cameras. A scale model of the solar system helps to better understand the Aurora Borealis. |

Whether you are trying to do Astrophotography on a budget or just part of the tinkerers guild and need projects to keep your idle hands busy I will attempt to compile some of my builds and links to other projects I have found helpful. |
