Sue Bowler

Her academic background includes a BA in Natural Sciences (Geological Sciences) from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Leeds, which focused on mountain-building  She began her career at the Royal Greenwich Observatory at Herstmonceux  After post-doctoral work in the Western Alps, she joined *New Scientist* magazine as Earth Sciences Editor, covering a broad range of topics from the Earth's core to the edge of the solar system  She continued to act as a consultant to *New Scientist* while returning to Leeds, where she taught Earth sciences and edited professional-interest magazines such as *Geology Today* 

 

Dr Bowler has also taught physics at Leeds and continues to teach communication skills at both university and professional levels  She works as a freelance editor and writer, producing press releases and publications for organizations including the Royal Astronomical Society, the British Geological Survey, and the Geological Society of London  She is active on social media, notably Twitter
