Neutrinos are ghost-like particles that can literally “go through walls”. They can bring information from places that are extremely hard to observe otherwise, like active nuclear reactors or the center of our Earth and stars.
After a brief discussion of the exciting history of neutrinos, I will describe how we can use them to look inside a supernova in the moment of explosion and what we might learn from this – about stars, neutrinos and, if we’re lucky, about physics beyond the standard model.
