JUPITER WATCH
The event is spread across March and April and is as follows
Thursday 16th March ‘Jupiter’ talk Roy G. and Paul D’S. This will be a guide to Jupiter and then an introduction on how to take images.
Monday 20th March – Sunday 2nd April – Various. The plan is to open the observatory to small numbers of our membership so that they can get hands on experience of using the equipment and taking images (AVIs) of Jupiter. Start times on each night will be up to the lead. If any lead needs a webcam please let me know.
Saturday 8th April Processing Images of Jupiter – Roy G. and Paul D’S. This is a chance for members to come together and learn how to process AVIs to produce stills. We will concentrate on Registax. The session will start at 1:00 pm for those people who do not have the software on their laptops and 2:00 pm for everyone else. We will also use ‘Castrator’ to reduce the size of files and issue some practise files. The session will officially end at 5:00 pm.
We need experience members to fill in the missing lead slots. If you can find time to spend an evening passing on your skills and knowledge to the membership it would make the event a success. I am not expecting all slots to be filled. Any slot not booked by the meeting of the previous week will not be expected to run.
If you can lead a session please let me know by Wednesday 1st March as to the date so that the booking sheet can be posted in the meeting room.

Speaker: Roy Gunson
Degree in Physics from the University of Bradford, MSc in engineering. Later worked as IT Manager for Sheffield Hallam University at Psalter Lane (Art College) before it was knocked down. After working for over 30 years at Sheffield Hallam University Roy has now settled down to a busier life as "retired". A prolific speaker for Probus, UA3, and WI groups as well as astronomical societies.
