Join Mexborough and Swinton Astronomical Society at the RSPB reserve at Old Moor for an evening of natural spectacle.  Witness the spectacle of birds coming in to roost over the mere at sunset and then, as the skies darken, lift your gaze skywards as the stars come out.

The evening will start with a choice of guided walks to the RSPB hides to watch the wonderful wildfowl come in to roost.  You may even see the barn owls return to their nests or even elusive bitterns settling down in the reed beds.

Following the walks Mexborough & Swinton Astronomy society will be on hand for you to observe the night sky through our telescopes.

In the Activity Centre will be an amazing presentation of the stars and Solar System.  Meanwhile in the visitor centre there will be a demonstration of a planetarium to show you how to find and view the wonders of the night sky.

Bring your own telescope if you require guidance from Society members.

Each section of the event will be followed by a question and answer session.

The cafe will be open to offer you soup and hot drinks to warm you up.

Speaker: Les Marsden & Phil Muffett
