Our Cosmic Origins

Guest Speaker

Thursday, 9th July 2026 (19:45 - 22:00)

Venue: Hybrid

All of the chemical elements of the periodic table are produced in space. In this talk I will focus on the 40 or so elements that make up the human body, and where and how these are produced. This will involve us journeying from the big bang to the hearts of massive stars, and into the material thrown out by neutron stars colliding at appreciable fractions of the speed of light.
