 Our Speaker Mary McIntyre will talk about the astronomical and atmospheric optical phenomena that are depicted in the Augsburg Wunderzeichenbuch - the Book of Miracles.
This book is a 16th Century illuminated manuscript that was produced in Germany.
It consists of 123 hand painted folios depicting various ‘miraculous events’ and loosely linking them to biblical and non-biblical events. Many of the folios depict perfectly ordinary astronomical events such as eclipses, meteor showers, comets and atmospheric optics displays but painted in a dramatic yet charming style.

Mary has given astronomy presentations to astronomical societies, photography clubs, U3A and WI groups, schools, and Beavers/Cubs/Scouts organisations. She has given numerous live and recorded speeches at festivals delivered a webinar for Sky at Night Magazine and gave the Sky Notes at two BAA meetings.
