In this talk, Dr. Peter Lloyd will explore the fascinating journey of celestial bodies, starting with the formation of stars. He will explain why our Sun is considered a third generation star, the implications of this classification, and its significance to our understanding of the cosmos.
Dr. Lloyd will also delve into the origin of the Solar System, discussing various theories regarding the Moon’s formation and why each of them has its limitations.

Speaker: Peter Lloyd
Peter was born south of London just before the outbreak of the second world war, graduated with degrees in Natural Sciences from Oxford, and finally retired as a systems engineer in 2003. He has been interested in Astronomy ever since he was a child, and got into astrophotography at the time the webcams appeared. He joined the Doncaster Astronomical Society when he moved to Yorkshire about 5 years ago and is now their General Secretary
