Martin discusses some of the many physical and psychological challenges astronauts face while in space travel. With a forward-looking view of space settlement and colonization, Martin summarises two published crowd-sourcing studies conducted with members of the UK and Irish Astronomical Society community. He also projects a future where rapid advances in AI, humanoid robotics, gene manipulation and sustainability may assist space travellers and provide a better future for humankind on Earth.

Speaker: Martin Braddock Dr

Martin Braddock holds degrees in Biochemistry and Radiation Biology and has held academic positions at the Universities of Dundee and Oxford for 11 years. He has worked in The BioPharmaceutical industry at Glaxo SmithKline and AstraZeneca for 29 years specializing in drug discovery and development for new medicines to treat patients with cardiovascular and respiratory disease and rheumatoid arthritis. In September 2024, he set up his own consulting business Genixiconsulting Ltd and works with universities, European funding bodies and corporations to help them better develop the 'Science Behind their Business'
