Speaker: Gary Gawthrope
Gary has been a member of MSAS for over 15 years. His primary interests are in the deep sky and what he terms transient astronomical events. He describes these events as ones where you have to be in the right place at the right time. Such events vary from observing comets and ring plane crossings of Saturn to eclipses (solar and lunar) and the transit of Venus. Gary was heavily involved in the building of the new dome on the observatory and is a keen astro-technician, often to be found talking about equipment with newer members.
