Auroral Emissions Throughout the Solar System
Guest Speaker
Thursday, 14th March 2024 (19:45 - 22:00)
Venue: Hybrid
Licia Ray is a Senior Lecturer in Space Physics at Lancaster University. Licia is particularly interested in planetary atmosphere-magnetosphere coupling in gas giant systems. Throughout her career Licia has developed and worked with numerical models of multiple aspects of this process, from electrical currents associated with aurora to auroral particle precipitation, and the atmospheric response to these energy inputs. Licia’s research currently focuses on characterising ionospheric outflow at Jupiter and the feasibility of observing x-ray emissions from the boundary between Uranus’s magnetosphere and interplanetary space.
