J A Jones Observatory - Public Viewing Evening

THE J A JONES HOOBER OBSERVATORY, LEA BROOK LANE, HOOBER, WENTWORTH ( 500metres East from ‘HOOBER STAND)

The date has been chosen to give a phase of the Moon at its optimum for first time observers, therefore, giving our visitors a very good image of our nearest neighbours surface with all its craters and mountains.
PLEASE ATTEND WHATEVER THE WEATHER – WE WILL BE THERE
IMPORTANT: U16 attendees must be accompanied by an Adult. Please check that you can purchase tickets for responsible adults as well as the tickets for the U16's
We can accommodate 20 people each evening, Doors open at 7.45pm. We shall need to start prompt at 8.00pm. The evening should conclude at about 10.00pm (22.00).
In the event of a cloudy sky, we will run a planetarium show in the Dome. Refunds because of weather conditions will not be considered.
Wrap up warm - wear stout shoes/ flat soles and a hat
You will find trousers advantageous. It can get very cold.
We have accessible toilet facilities.
Note access to the dome is via a flight of steep stairs.

Health and Safety regulations require MSAS to identify anyone who require additional considerations on any visit to the observatory in order to plan for access and emergencies.
In order for MSAS to carry out such preparations please ensure that the MSAS lead for the event is aware of any individual who needs such consideration TWO DAYS prior to your event. This will ensure that MSAS can make your visit as informative, enjoyable, comfortable and as safe as possible.
