Photo Processing with GIMP

Guest Speaker

Thursday, 3rd August 2023 (19:45 - 22:00)

Venue: Hybrid

This talk should be of interest to non-imagers who enjoy looking at Astro images as well as images who don't want to pay large sums of money for processing software. Using GIMP Martin will run through a complete process using data that has been calibrated, aligned, and integrated.  As well as stretching the histogram he will demonstrate the use of masks and selection tools to enable selective processing of different areas of the image using sharpening and noise-reducing tools.

Speaker: Martin Bradley

Martin, a member of Chesterfield AS, is a retired GP and has been astro imaging for the past 17 years.  I have my own observatory for deep sky imaging, but he is also an occasional solar system imager and enjoys widefield nighttime landscape imaging.
