Water in the Universe

The third most prevalent chemical in the universe, water is widely believed to be essential for life in its liquid state. The discussion will cover the many different places where water may be found in our galaxy, from the icy moons and comets to the burning stars (cool stars and sunspots). The state of water detections on exoplanets will be discussed at the conclusion.

Speaker: Jonathan Tennyson

Jonathan Tennyson is a Fellow of the Royal Society and the Massey Professor of Physics at University College London. He is the project leader for ExoMol, which collects laboratory data for models and analyses of planetary atmospheres. "Astronomical Spectroscopy" was written by him.
