An important change came about in our understanding of astronomy and cosmology in the 16th and 17th centuries, known as the Copernican Revolution.

Instead of being central and immobile, the earth was now thought of as another planet orbiting the sun.

This talk looks at how and why that change came about and the many characters involved in this revolution.

Speaker: Andrew Gregory

Andrew Gregory is Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at University College London. He has an BSc in Philosophy and an MSc and PhD in History and Philosophy of Science. His main research interest is the astronomy and cosmology of the ancient world, on which he has published 8 books and numerous articles.
