Astronomers by chance.
Guest Speaker
Thursday, 27th January 2022 (19:45 - 22:00)
Venue: Virtual Meeting
Ever fancied a career change? This is not a new phenomenon. Some of our most famous and influential astronomers did not set out to study the sky but changed tack in later years. This presentation will introduce to you some of these amazing people.
Speaker: Sue Parr
Sue is a retired teacher and also worked for many years with young people in music-making in a voluntary capacity. Her interest in Astronomy started whilst in the Brownies when Brown Owl pointed out Orion’s Belt. She has been a member of the CDAS for many years and is its Secretary. She is also part of the Outreach team, is coordinator of the Informal Evenings, and gives presentations to the Beginners’ Group. Sue finds every aspect of Astronomy fascinating, but her leanings are towards the characters who helped found Astronomy as we know it today, observing (if the sky is clear!) and the Solar System.
