Join the team at RSPB Old Moor and Mexborough and Swinton Astronomical Society for an evening of natural spectacle. Come on a guided walk to see the birds and wildlife coming into roost at sunset and then as the skies darken, lift your gaze skywards as the stars come out.
The evening will start with a choice of guided walk, including a family walk, around the reserve to watch the geese, starlings, owls and other wildlife coming into roost. You may see barn owls, starling murmurations or even our elusive bitterns settling down in the reedbeds.
Coming in from the cold night warm up with a complimentary homemade soup in the farmhouse cafe. The cafe will also host our crafting session where families can make their very own constellation scope throughout the evening!
Following the walks and soup the astronomical society will be on hand to show the wonders of the nights sky through their powerful telescopes. In the Activity Zone will be an amazing presentation of the solar system and film footage of the starts. meanwhile in the visitor centre there will be a demonstration of a planetarium to show you the wider planetary systems.
Please book via eventbrite.co.uk, search for RSPB Old Moor.
